Some people are blessed with gorgeous skin. They could rub the dirt off the bottom of their shoe onto their face and they would still have a glowing, flawless complexion. Unfortunately that is not the case for us all. Sensitive, acne prone skin is the norm for so many people and for us we have to be extremely careful with what we choose to put on our skin. Choosing the right makeup that won’t clog up our temperamental skin can be a real struggle. Today we are going to take a look to see what is the best choice we can make for the health of our skin.
If you are acne prone then it is best that you stay away from solid makeup products like stick, pancake, cream, cream to powder compact foundations or concealers. I know how tempting it is to use all those cream blushes and bronzers for a beautiful dewy glow but that may not be the best option if you want clear skin. These products often contain waxes that can cause congestion in your skin.
So if these are the types of products that you need to avoid then what types of makeup should you look for?
Mineral makeup is a good option, it sits on top of your skin and doesn’t sink down into your pores like most liquid makeup will. Some people find that mineral makeup is a little harder to work with than liquid foundations, but I think it has a lot to do with the brand you buy and, also, it may just take a little practice to achieve the results you are looking for. Mineral foundations come in powder and liquid – so there is something for every skin type. Mineral foundation allows your skin to breathe while still protecting it against free radical damage from the environment. Look for ones that have very few ingredients and are free from talc and harsh artificial preservatives.
The bottom line is that if you have sensitive or acne prone skin mineral makeup is likely to be your best option. Always be sure to double check all the ingredients, just because it’s mineral doesn’t mean pore clogging ingredients haven’t been added. Always check!
